How to Measure for an Oval Copper Sink
Before choosing your sink, confirm whether it will be installed above the countertop as a drop-in sink or beneath it as an undermount sink. Our flat-edge copper sinks can be installed either way.
Understanding Sink Dimensions
The dimensions listed on our website include the flat rim, which measures approximately 1 inch on each side. For example, a sink measuring 17 inches overall will have an interior bowl measurement of approximately 15 inches along that same dimension.
For an oval sink, check both the overall length and width, along with the interior bowl dimensions.
Replacing a Drop-In (Top-Mount) Sink
Measure the length and width of your existing countertop cutout from edge to edge, at the longest and widest points.
The new sink’s outer rim must extend beyond the cutout on all sides so it overlaps the opening and rests securely on the countertop. The bowl beneath the rim must also fit through the opening.
Replacing an Undermount Sink
Measure the length and width of the existing countertop opening at the longest and widest points.
An undermount opening generally aligns with the interior bowl rather than the sink’s overall dimensions. The exact fit depends on how much of the sink’s edge is visible beneath the countertop, known as the reveal.
Confirm the Fit Before Ordering
Length and width alone do not guarantee a fit, since oval shapes and curves can vary. Have your installer compare the existing opening with the new sink’s specifications or template before ordering or making any countertop cuts.
